In April, 2023, 3 Khayamandi families visited the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. After being split into age groups, experienced guides introduced them to the magical world of Kirstenbosch. The children listened intently about the plants and biodiversity of the gardens. They felt excited walking the Braille Trail with the guide rope (for the visually impaired) but enjoyed the 130-meter bridge of the Kirstenbosch Tree Canopy Walkway (aka the Boomslang) even more.
Thank you to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens for providing us with transport for this visit, and for free entry to the gardens which made this trip an unforgettable experience for all. For weeks following the visit, the learners were referring to the colours and textures which they experienced in the gardens.
